Cortina is 2 1/5 hours from Venice, Italy. It has 52 lifts and 87 miles of roomed runs, with 95% having snowmaking facilities. In addition, there is 45 miles of cross country tracks. There is a wide variety of runs for all levels. Cortina is also part of the Cortina/Val Gardena resort area and is one of the 5 main Dolomite valleys. The Dolomiti Superski is a massive interconnected 460-lift system with 762 miles of trails. There is also a new underground funicular that connects the 2 sides of the valley in St. Cristina in the center of Val Gardena.

The town of Cortina is a lively alpine village, where the rich and famous come to see and be seen. Nearly 75% of the winter visitors come for the ambiance, sunshine and social scene and never make it to the slopes. Visitors can be seen enjoying espressos at a local café or an aperitif before a gourmet dinner at one of the many famous restaurants around town. Later that night you can head to the disco or grappa bars around town.

Shopping is also a must along the Corso Italia, the trafficless street and the center of activity in town. Many of the resorts offer the ability to wake up late, ski to one of the literally hundreds of restaurants and then have a delicious Italian meal.
